Frequently Asked Questions micro folic acid

Q. What is folic acid?

A. Folic acid is a B-Vitamin that helps build healthy cells. Because it is water-soluble, it is quickly flushed from the body, which is why it should be taken every day.

Folic acid comes in two different forms:

• A synthetic form found in vitamins, fortified bread and grain products, such as breakfast cereals

• A natural form (also known as 'folate') available in foods such as leafy green vegetables, beans and orange juice

The synthetic form is more easily absorbed by the body than the natural form.
